Trua counselling & psychotherapy is owned and run by Donna Bacon and is conveniently located just 10 minutes from the city centre.
Trua's therapy room is simple and spacious, offering us a calm and comfortable environment in which we can work together.
I deeply care about the well-being of people and have always been passionate about helping others. I strongly believe in people's capabilities and resilience and so my way of working is based on developing a sense of empowerment within clients to overcome whatever challenges or struggles life throws their way. I have been privileged to witness the growth of many clients which has not only reinforced my belief in the strength & resourcefulness of individuals but has also facilitated my own personal and professional growth.
Following this, I completed my professional training in counselling and psychotherapy at the Institute for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IICP) and was awarded with a professional Diploma.
I have also completed specialist training in Addiction and I am a certified Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA) therapist.
Other training includes certificates in CBT, suicide intervention, sexual abuse and sexuality.
In conjunction to my private practise, I currently work as a lecturer in IICP Education & Training for both trainee and qualified psychotherapists. Another post I presently hold is my work with the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) on their editorial committee for their journal, Eisteach.
My passion for working in the field of mental health and supporting individuals and families to overcome challenges is evident in my clinical experience which extends ten years. During this time I have worked both individually and in group settings with adults and families coping with a vast range of issues.
If you are interested in getting some support with anything that is troubling you, please contact me and we can arrange an introductory meeting (no charge). During this meeting you will have the opportunity to ask questions about me, how we might work together, and to find out if counselling is right for you.
